It traces its origins to Pagani Composite Research established in 1988 to supply advanced materials to Lamborghini and other companies. Pagani Composite Research became Modena Design in 1991, prior to formation of Pagani Automobilli in 1992.
Pagani Automobilli launched its debut model, Zonda C12, in the year 1999. Only five units of this model were ever built but it catapulted Pagani to the status of a hyper-car innovator.
