Vivo was founded on 22nd May 2009 by Shen Wei and Duan Yongping. It was initially launched to cater to the Chinese market. However, in the year 2017, Vivo entered multiple markets worldwide, including Hong-Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Laos, Cambodia, Brunei, Russia, Vietnam, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan. In October 2020, Vivo entered the European market.

Vivo is among the top 5 smartphone brands in the world with a market share of around 10%. The brand is known for offering top-specification smartphones at affordable prices. Most prominent smartphone models of the brand are the X Series and Y Series, such as X60, Y20 and Y70.
