Kwality Walls India Limited is an Indian ice cream and frozen dessert company. It was owned and operated by the Hindustan Unilever Limited, a subsidiary of the British multinational consumer goods company, Unilever, prior to demerger as a separate entity in January 2025. The company is known for blending local Indian flavours with global standards in its products. Kwality Walls owns multiple popular lines of ice creams and frozen desserts, including Cornetto, Feast, Magnum, Paddle Pop, Fruttare, Carte D’ Or and Creamy Delight.

Company Profile

Kwality Walls traces its origins to two separate companies in India and United Kingdom. Kwality Ice Cream was founded in the year 1956 by Jagdish Chandra Gupta in Delhi. It was the first Indian company to import ice cream making machines. By the 1980s, it had become a major ice cream brand in urban India.

Walls ice cream brand was founded by Thomas Walls in the year 1922 in United Kingdom. It introduced tricycle mobile ice cream vendors and, by the year 1939, was operating over 8500 such vendors in the country.

Unilever acquired Walls in the 1950s, while its Indian arm, Hindustan Unilever Limited, acquired majority stakes in Kwality Ice Cream in the year 1994. Subsequently, Unilever merged Kwality and Walls to form Kwality Walls in the year 1995. By the year 2010, Kwality Walls had crossed Rs. 1000 crore in revenues in India.

Kwality Walls operates 8 dedicated ice cream plants in India, with the largest plant located in Nashik, Maharashtra. The company also has the largest cold-chain distribution network in India, with over 1 million outlets across the country. Kwality Walls holds around 35% share in the Indian organised ice cream market.

Origin Country

Kwality Walls originated in India as a brand under Hindustan Unilever Limited. It is now an independent Indian entity, post demerger from HUL. Kwality Walls’ products are also available in multiple other countries, including Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Bhutan, Thailand and Singapore.
