Company History

TCL was founded as TTK Home Appliances Company Limited in the year 1981 by Li Dongsheng and the local government of Huizhou. It started operations by producing magnetic cassette tapes under the TCL brand. The company launched China’s first cordless phone in the year 1985, eventually becoming the country’s largest telephone manufacturer.

TCL ventured into colour televisions in the year 1992 and began exporting televisions to foreign markets like Russia, Southeast Asia and Middle East in the year 1996. The company was listed on the Hong-Kong stock exchange as TCL International Holdings Limited in the year 1999.
