Armani Group was founded in the year 1975 by an Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani and his business associate Sergio Galeotti. It began by producing ready-to-wear apparel for both men and women. In the year 1979, Giorgio Armani Corporation was established in the United States to cater to the North American market.

Emporio Armani, targeting young consumers with contemporary and accessible designs, was launched by the Armani Group in the year 1981. In the year 1982, the company expanded to cosmetics with the launch of fragrances under the brand name Armani Beauty. Subsequently, the product portfolio was expanded to accessories, eyewear and home interior. Armani’s bespoke haute couture brand, Armani Prive, was launched in the year 1997 at the Paris Fashion Week.

Armani Group opened its flagship stores in major cities like Milan, Tokyo and New York in the 1990s. By the end of the decade, the company had established itself in 35 countries. Currently, the Armani Group operates 12 manufacturing plants and has a network of more than 2700 stores worldwide.
